The Bun: Sally Lunn, a young French refugee, arrived in England over 300 years ago. She began to bake a rich round and generous bread now known as the Sally Lunn Bun. This bun became a very popular delicacy in Georgian England as its special taste and lightness allowed it to be enjoyed with either sweet or savoury accompaniments.

In spite of many refurbishments to keep the cinema up-to-date with digital sound and the latest projection technology, and a renewal of the seats to give the very best comfort levels, The Little Theatre has retained the charm and welcoming warmth of a 1930s cinema, including a balcony in the main auditorium.
It initially functioned as a news theatre open from midday and showing hourly programmes of documentaries and newsreels. Feature films were first shown in 1939, the first two being "Peg of Old Drury" starring Anna Neagle followed by "Oh Mr Porter" starring Will Hay. The cinema thrived on local support throughout the years as other Bath cinema venues closed and in 1979 the former scenery store and lounge area were converted into a second screen.* Excludes free list suspended titles * Call the booking line in advance to check availability 14 George Street

Purchase one Entrance Ticket & receive one FREE Save up to £10.00 The Building of Bath Museum is a 'must see'. If you love Bath and its architecture then this museum explains how and why this magnificent city was built, decorated and lived in. In a period of 70 years Bath developed from a small provincial spa to being the most fashionable place, outside of London. Using a series of models, maps, paintings and reconstructions the museum looks in detail at the various crafts and personalities that built this wonderful city. We have an unrivalled collection of authentic and specialist tools, fixtures and fittings from the Georgian period.
Our story begins with 17th century Bath, when the spa was famed for its healing springs, but little else. From the visits of Queen Anne in 1702 and 1703 and throughout the Georgian period (the reigns of King George I, II, III and IV) Bath was the 'valley of pleasure' where fashionable society came for the season to take the waters, enjoy good society, shops and gambling. Our exhibition leads you through how a Georgian house was constructed from the ashlar stone to the decorative plasterwork. We encourage our visitors to touch and explore the majority of our models and exhibits. You can see how a Georgian sash window was constructed or try on a pannier, a wicker backpack used by boys to carry stone to where it was needed on the building site.

Note: a deposit is required on all boats, this may be cash, car keys or a credit card.
The Skiff is a type of rowing boat adapted for leisure use on inland waterways: long, graceful and slender, for speed, but broad enough for stability and comfort. The oarsman sits in the centre (amidships for purists) and rows ( again, strictly speaking “sculls” since he is using both oars); his passengers, meanwhile, sit back in comfort and make encouraging remarks and also steer the boat by means of a pair of lines to the rudder.
The Punt is a flat-bottomed boat, typically used in small rivers and canals. It is propelled by pushing a long pole against the river bed and forcing the punt forward through the water. The same pole is used to steer by trailing it in the water astern after the propelling stroke is finished and moving it to one side or the other. It sounds more complicated than it really is and a little tuition at commencement will send most novices happily on their way.Open 11am to dusk March to October.

Purchase one Entrance Ticket & receive one FREE Save up to £5.50The original design for the Sydney Hotel, prepared by Thomas Baldwin in 1794, was a two-story building which would serve the Pleasure Gardens laid out beyond the end of Great Pulteney Street. Owing to the failure of the Bath Bank, however, Baldwin was bankrupted, and his design was never implemented. Instead a three-story building was designed and built by Charles Harcourt Masters in 1795-6. The ‘hotel’ contained rooms for drinking tea and coffee and playing cards, as well as a ballroom.
The Holburne Museum houses the superb art collection formed by Sir William Holburne in Bath. Widely known for his silver and Old Master paintings, Sir William also collected Italian bronzes, such as the famous Susini once owned by King Louis XIV, maiolica, porcelain, glass, furniture and portrait miniatures. His legacy has since been greatly enriched with landscapes by Guardi and Turner, portraits by Stubbs, Ramsay, Zoffany and of course Gainsborough, who spent sixteen formative years in Bath. Bath connections are also well represented by Angelica Kauffmann's portrait of Henrietta Laura Pulteney, Hone's miniature of Beau Nash, the city's famous Master of Ceremonies and Joseph Plura's masterpiece Diana and Endymion, made in Bath in 1752.
